Meet Belmont’s latest More Than a Number, Marcia!

Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
No! I hated the idea of being hot and sweaty. I joined the gym/PT around 5 years ago to help a friend prepare for her wedding and discovered a passion for being fitter and healthier – hot and sweaty as well!

What exercise have you done previously?
Mostly personal training, gym and bootcamps.

What brought you to Planet fitness?
I moved to Belmont in July 2015 and decided a change in gym was needed. Planet was close by and everyone was helpful and welcoming.

Did you have a goal when you first joined?
Yes, to continue with PT and my goal to becoming fitter and healthier. Also to help recover after an ankle injury and a 4 month break from the gym.

Have you reached a goal or have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
Yes, I think I’m mostly there in terms of my health etc and the ankle recovery is a work in progress.

What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
I found them somewhat intimidating, especially the big ones. Planet is like family. Everyone is friendly and happy to help or have a chat.

What are your fitness goals for the future?
To continue getting stronger and mostly I want my girls to see that the gym and working out is not something to dislike but a part of life.

Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Being hot and sweaty lol! The hardest part was building endurance and trying to overcome the feeling of needing to pass out or vomit. Now I just need my mind to understand that my ankle has healed and I can run, jump, skip etc.

Do you have sources if inspiration? If so, what are they?
Current and previous PTs and a couple of friends that participate in bodybuilding competitions.

What is your weekly fitness regime?
Monday – PT
Wednesday – Gym
Thursday – Summer Shred
Friday – I was doing PT for a while.
