Meet Belmont’s latest More Than a Number, Kristyn!

Status
Full time work.

Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
No, I did dancing when I was in primary school but nothing since then.

Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
Yes I had a general goal to be healthier. I wanted to become fitter, get my energy levels up and loose that muffin top.

Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I definitely feel better in myself and find I can do more physically without puffing as much. The love handles are slowly going away.

What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
I’ve always seen gyms as places for people to bulk up, not as a weight loss option. That has completely changed, I see people of all fitness levels at the gym – which makes me want to come all the more.

What are your fitness goals for the future?
To continue to lead a healthier life and not fall back into my bad habits.

Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Self discipline has always been my weakness. Eating the wrong food and not coming to the gym as often as I should.

Do you have sources of inspiration? If so what are they?
My trainer Jack and my mum. She has had a range of physical injuries that stopped her from exercising but she always tried to go on a walk every afternoon. Jack has been a great support, always with a smile or a joke, he always has encouraging words that really help to motivate me.

What is your weekly fitness regime?
I’ve recently started doing 2 days of lower body, 2 days of upper body, as well as cardio activities in between. Things like swimming laps, stair runs, and bike rides.

Favourite quote?
“Just keep swimming.”
