Meet Lambton’s More Than a Number, Laura!
Working full time, married and mum to 3 beautiful children.
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
When I was younger yes, not so much after having children.
What have you done previously?
I played netball and touch football at state level and have been a member of Planet Fitness on and off roughly for the past 20 years. Gosh I’m getting old.
What brought you to Planet Fitness?
This time around, my health, wanting to lose weight and feel better about myself.
Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
Yes, I wanted to lose 20 kilos and to feel fitter and stronger.
Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I have! I have lost 21kg and feel so much fitter, stronger, and much much happier.
What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
I have never been a big fan of commercialised gym’s advertising what they perceive fitness looks like. I found them pretentious and intimidating. I have always found Planet Fitness to be welcoming, comfortable, accepting, and the consistently helpful staff willing to share information in all aspects of fitness, health and wellbeing.
What are your fitness goals for the future?
Maintain my current fitness but keep improving as well. I would one day like to do a small marathon.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Time can be a challenge and giving up chocolate lol.
Do you have any sources of inspiration, what are they?
My 3 children. I want to be an example and show them how important it is to take care of yourself both physically and mentally and more than anything be around for them for a long time.
What is your weekly fitness regime?
I do an hour at the gym (5km of cardio and weight training) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, I do PT on Wednesdays, and I usually go for a 5km walk with my husband on the weekends.
