Meet Belmont’s latest More Than a Number, Bec!
Full time work – social worker.
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
No, prior to this journey I had never stepped foot inside a gym before!
Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
When I first joined Planet Fitness I wanted to loose 6kgs.
Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
Yes, I sure have – I’ve have now lost 23kgs. 🙂
What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
My initial perception of gyms was that they were only for fit people. That they were places only for people that knew what they were doing. Yes this perception have changed thanks to the supportive and friendly staff and the community at Planet Fitness. I now feel much more comfortable and less concerned as soon as I walk through the front door.
What are your fitness goals for the future?
Loose a further 4kg to hit 80kg and tone up to feel more comfortable in my wedding dress in September.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Self confidence and the ability to believe in myself enough to overcome my fear of attending a gym, and having to consciously say no to chocolate on a daily basis.
Do you have sources of inspiration? If so what are they?
My fiancé Mark. He has been right next to me during this journey, a constant source of support and encouragement. Mark keeps me focused and motivated especially when my alarm goes off at 5:30am in order to get to the gym!
My personal trainer Ash. Ash has taught me to believe in myself again and that muscle pain is “good” pain! Ash keeps me accountable and her guidance and ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
What is your weekly fitness regime?
To complete 5 sessions a week including a mix of PT, cardio, weights, and boxing.
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
